Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me,
and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.
Whoever welcomes a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward,
 and whoever welcomes a righteous person
as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water
to one of these little ones who is my disciple,
truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.
Matthew 10:40-42

The lectionary readings for this fourth Sunday after Pentecost are:

First reading:  Jeremiah 28:5-9
Second reading:  Romans 6:12-23
Gospel:  Matthew 10:40-42

The collect:

Almighty God,
you have taught us through your Son
that love fulfils the law.
Grant us grace to love you
with all our heart,
all our soul,
all our mind,
all our strength,
and to love our neighbour as ourselves;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;

we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving

and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100

Psalm:  Psalm 100

Second reading:  Romans 5:1-8

Almighty God,
without you we are not able to please you.
Mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit
may in all things direct and rule our hearts;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
